Greetings friends, fans, family and supporters of Portland Metro Composite!

Coach Mitchell here, reporting in as we reach the halfway point of our 2021 season.

We just enjoyed a glorious weekend of mountain bike pedaling, riding and racing up at Mt Hood Ski Bowl where our riders challenged themselves to a mix of single track, fire road climbing and trail bike descending.

All rode admirably and I’m excited to share the following photos of what has become one of my favorite days of bike fun in our region.

As someone who has enjoyed participating in bike racing events at Ski Bowl for 8+ years, it impressed me to realize that this weekend’s NICA race–beautifully hosted by the Oregon League–was the biggest and best attended bike race I’ve seen there. Super cool.

Overall, it was awesome seeing our Portland kids up on their home mountain doing what they love and demonstrating the gains in pedaling performance, bike handling and mental fortitude–required to line up and speed off in a large scale competitive bike racing event–that they have all made this season.

Y’all crushed it, Portland Metro Composite. Keep it up! 🙂

And thanks to NICA, the Oregon Interscholastic Cycling League and SkiBowl for a great weekend!

Liam enjoys his final climb to the top of the course.
